Town Seeks Input on Zoning
The Edinburg Town Council is looking for feedback from residents on Zoning. The town Comprehensive Plan calls for a need to maintain the towns’ current character which is described in the recent newsletter as “a compact small town in a rural setting, with a historic main street, small businesses, and attractive residential areas.”
The subject of the zoning ordinance review is the town’s “Historic District” which is made up of over 180 structures and sites within the town. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places but there is currently no zoning in place to protect these structures. The town is deciding what to do.
The Committee is interested in resident's comments and suggestions about how to protect our Historic Resources. What approach should be taken? Should reviews be advisory or binding?
" You don't know what you have until it's gone". Let's be smarter than that in Edinburg.
With this in mind, The town is holding a Public Forum
April 3,
7 PM at the town hall.
In a recent mailing, Dan Harshman did a great job of laying out the issues at stake and the options available. I plan to post those options here soon. In the mean time. Contact the Edinburg town office if You did not see the mailing.
